We'll be at the Smithville Artwalk
in Smithville, NJ.
April 27, 2024
10am-4pm
The Breaking Waves are hand sculpted, breaking ocean waves crafted from the EPS styrofoam
found in old surfboards and body boards.
My Surfboard Taxidermy breathes new life into boards that are too old to ride or too damaged to be repaired. These boards get a second life as a stunning piece of wall art. Contact us for more details or to commission a custom piece.
Michael Clineman studied scenic design and lighting at Florida State University’s School of Theater. After work on several films, commercials and television shows, he accepted a full-time position with Nickelodeon Studios Art Department. Years later, a part time gig at the House of Blues turned into a twenty year career in the live music industry and introduced him to Outsider Folk Art. The House of Blues venues are home to the largest permanently displayed collection of Outsider and American Folk Art. Meeting several of the folk artists over the years (Mary Proctor, Mose Toliver, Howard Finster and Mr. Imagination to name a few) inspired him to create.
An avid surfer and scuba diver, Michael has traveled the world touring with bands and managed several concert venues across the country. He hates wearing shoes and owns more wetsuits than business suits. His style today is influenced by Mary Blair, Peter Max, LeRoy Neiman and Walfrido Garcia. Whenever possible, Michael uses recycled and reclaimed materials in his works. His desire to create art is fueled by a love of nature and a respect for the world’s oceans.
